BREAST AUGMENTATION

Breast augmentation surgery enhances the size and shape of the breasts using implants and/or fat transfer. The procedure improves size, shape and symmetry of the breasts. Depending on your goals, Dr. Culver will make recommendations whether implants and/or fat transfer will better meet your desired outcome. Together you and Dr. Culver will make decisions on the type of augmentation, and if desired, the implant type, size, incision, and placement location. 3D imaging is often used to help with these decisions.

BREAST LIFT

Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure to contour and restore the shape of the breasts following pregnancy, weight loss or normal aging. Depending on the shape of your breasts, various incision patterns are possible. Dr. Culver will discuss the incision options and let you know what incision pattern will provide the most aesthetic result for your individual breasts.

BREAST LIFT WITH IMPLANT

A breast lift with implants addresses loose, excess skin of the breasts and enhances the size of the breasts. Breast lift, or mastopexy, can be done alone or with the addition of an implant depending on your individual size and shape goals. Dr. Culver will discuss both options with you to determine which surgery is best for you. Often patients wonder if they will need a breast lift with their implant surgery. When breasts have significant ptosis, or laxity, and the nipple is low on the breast, an implant alone will not provide lifting. Breasts with minimal ptosis may do well with an implant alone depending on your goals. Dr. Culver will discuss both options with you to determine the best procedure for your goals.

BREAST REDUCTION

Breast reduction surgery reduces the size of the breast and areola and also lifts the breast to a more youthful position. Oversized breasts, or macromastia, can lead to back and neck pain, rashes, shoulder grooving from bra straps, and difficulty exercising and wearing certain clothing. Breast reduction surgery can improve these symptoms and also improve your confidence and self-image. Depending on your breast shape and size and your aesthetic goals, Dr. Culver will recommend the incision pattern best suited for you. Usually for larger reductions an “anchor” or “J” shaped incision is necessary.

BREAST REVISION

Breast revision surgery is a secondary breast procedure. It addresses desired changes in size, shape and symmetry of the breasts. Revision surgery can be complex, and a thorough understanding of a patient’s goals is critical to a great result. Revision surgery often involves removal and possible replacement of implants, removal of the scar capsule, lifting the breasts, and possibly the use of an internal bra for support. Dr. Culver will have an in-depth discussion about your prior breast surgeries and also your current aesthetic goals to determine an individualized procedure best suited for you.

BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

Breast reconstruction surgery following both mastectomy and partial mastectomy is highly individualized. You and Dr. Culver will discuss your reconstruction goals to determine the best type of reconstruction and operative plan for you. Dr. Culver offers aesthetic flat closure, implant based and autologous (own tissue) reconstruction. She is extensively trained in free flap (including DIEP flap) breast reconstruction surgery as well as implant based, including direct to implant, surgery. Dr. Culver strives to make each breast cancer patient’s treatment journey less intimidating, and she values that each patient’s reconstructive goals are unique.
